Why The Pura Vida Teacher?
For my fellow Costa Rica travelers you know the phrase pura vida well. But for those that do not, let me fill you in.
Pura vida is a common phrase, one of the most popular in Costa Rica. In its literal translation it means “pure life” or “simple life”. But it is much more than just a saying; pura vida is a hello and a goodbye. It’s a way of life.
My love for Costa Rica and its rich culture began in 2006 on my first visit to the country. This is when I first heard the phrase pura vida and gave inspiration to the name “The Pura Vida Teacher”.
My family and I spend our summers in Costa Rica living the pura vida lifestyle and continuing our bilingual journey. I’m amazed at how easy it is for my children to navigate both their cultures.
Not only do we spend our summers in Costa Rica with my family, but I’ve also planned immersion experiences in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2024 for my students.
